We are looking to grow our company and our team with an exceptionally talented, team-focused, Application Engineer.

THE OPPORTUNITY

We are looking for an Application Engineer that will be a critical liaison between our customers and Azul’s product development and sales organizations. This person will ensure our first-of-its kind 3D printing platform will meet and exceed our customers’ requirements. The position is ideal for someone that excels in solving complex problems and collaborating on innovative solutions. This individual will interface with customers, and work extensively alongside our Software, Hardware, Materials and Sales teams. As primary job responsibilities the application engineer will:

 
  • Learn to use Azul 3D printers and be a subject matter expert on operation and print optimization.
  • Work with customers to develop focused engineering applications utilizing the company’s printing platform.
  • Communicate product use cases to the company’s Hardware, Software and Materials teams to ensure continued product improvement.
  • Use creativity and engineering skills to design custom, high quality parts that showcase the Azul 3D printer’s capabilities.
  • Possess outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
  • Perform other duties that propel Azul 3D’s mission and goals or contribute to our organizational values, safety, and culture.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR IN YOU
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science & Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Additive Manufacturing.
  • Experience in mesh-based CAD.
  • Experience in design for additive manufacturing.
  • Experience in process development
  • Demonstrated strong entrepreneurial drive.
  • Extensive experience in 3D design, visualizations, and rendering.
  • Experience maintaining and developing customer relationships.
  • Demonstrated project management skills.
HOW YOU’LL REALLY STAND OUT
  • Expertise in manufacturing and demonstrated success with multiple manufacturing methods.
  • Experience in an early stage, tech-focused environment.
  • Experience in Netfabb, nTop, Rhino+Grasshopper, Python, Fusion 360 or similar
  • Experience operating 3D printers
  • Willingness to take a hands-on approach to problem solving.
FIRST 6 MONTHS @ AZUL 3D

Within one month, you will:
  • Understand Azul’s core technologies, technology roadmap, printers, and business strategy.
  • Socialize with the cross-functional team, understanding each person’s area of expertise and skills spanning the hardware, software, materials, and product applications teams.
  • Understand how to use the Azul 3D printers and start partnering with customers on product design optimization and post processing.
Within three months, you will:
  • Own your role as an applications engineer, supporting further platform optimization, print parameters, and chemistry in a systems-based approach.
  • Partner with customers to get Azul 3D printers into industrial production.
  • Design a set of products, manufacture them with the engineering team, and fully grasp design rules for 3D printing.
Within six months, you will:
  • Mentor other members of the applications team on design, partnering with other applications engineers to solve critical customer problems, and perform design of experiment analysis.
  • Contribute to Azul 3D’s growth through consistently delivering outstanding products and innovations.
