Certified Medication Aide
Position Overview:
We are looking for a dedicated Certified Medication Aide/CNA to join our healthcare team. As a Certified Medication Aide, you will play a crucial role in administering medications to patients, ensuring their well-being, and providing compassionate care. This position requires someone with a strong commitment to patient safety and well-being.
You'll be responsible for preparing, administering and charting oral, topical and suppository drugs. Performs pulse and blood pressure measurements and administers PRN drugs as directed. Assists with admission, discharge and transfer procedures. Completes documentation clearly and accurately in the Medication Administration Record, Controlled Substance and Destructions logs, and Resident Records. Med Techs will also assist with hands on patient care as needed.
*We are hiring for 1 full time med tech on first shift (6:45-3) and 1 full time med tech on second shift (3-11p).*
*QUALIFICATION STANDARDS*
* The ability to prepare, administer and chart medications as prescribed by a physician is required.
* The ability to exercise good judgment and make confident ethical decisions is essential.
* Must be able to effectively manage time in order to complete multiple tasks.
* The ability to communicate effectively in English both orally and in writing is required.
* May require lifting, bending and standing for long periods of time.
* Must possess computer skills and be well versed in Point Click Care eMar.
_Education_
* *Completion of a Virginia state approved Medication Technician Training Program is required.*
* *Completion of a state approved Certified Nursing Assistant Program is required.* A high school diploma or GED is required.
_C. Experience_
* One year of experience as a Certified Medication Technician is preferred.
_D. Certificates/Licenses_
* *Current state Medication Technician Certification is required. Current state Certified Nursing Assistant certification is required.*
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer medications to patients as prescribed by healthcare providers.
- Monitor patients for any adverse reactions to medications and report any concerns to the nursing staff.
- Maintain accurate and detailed medication records for each patient.
- Assist patients with activities of daily living as needed.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure the best possible care for patients.
- Provide emotional support and companionship to patients.
Requirements:
- Certification as a Medication Aide.
- Experience in hospice care, hospital, acute care, dementia care, or related settings is preferred.
- Knowledge of medical office procedures and medical records management.
- Experience in home and community care is beneficial.
