Position Summary
PLEASE NOTE: Thisposition is for the UNM-Gallup Branch, located in Gallup, NM, approximately138 miles west of Albuquerque, NM. The University of NewMexico Gallup Branch, Education, Health, and Human Services Division,anticipates hiring adjunct faculty to teach face-to-face and/or develop lowerdivision courses (100/200 Level) in the Spring, Summer, and Fall 2024semesters in the following potential discipline:
HEALTH COURSES: HCHT 121 HealthInformation Technology I
HCHT 211 Basic ICD/CPT Coding
HCHT 215 Advanced OPCoding
HCHT 219 Advanced IPCoding
HCHT 232 ReimbursementMethodologies
The UNM Gallup is a two-year branch campus of the University of New Mexicolocated approximately 138 miles west of Albuquerque.The University ofNew Mexico established branch colleges to provide the highest quality ofeducation for students pursuing post-secondary education at differentlocations throughout the state. Branch colleges respond specifically to theunique needs and multicultural backgrounds of their respective communities byoffering community education programs, career and technical educationincluding certificate and associate degree programs, and transfer programsthat prepare students for upper division entry into colleges anduniversities.
The Education, Health and Human Services Division at UNM Gallup Branch isseeking a qualified temporary part-time faculty member to teach lowerdivision classes in various courses or topics as specified above. UNM Gallupinstructors are responsible for all aspects of any class they are teachingincluding but not limited to meeting face-to-face with the class duringassigned times that may include evenings or weekends, content delivery,assignment development, grading assignments, reporting of grades, andassessment of student learning as outlined by the division chair.
Positions are contingent upon need each semester as determined by studentenrollment levels, current course offering matrix, and demand driven by graduationrequirements.Positions may be filled or eliminated each semester up tothe deadline for students to drop or add courses.Candidates who areselected for these positions will report to the division chair.
Wages Adjunct Faculty are currently compensated on the basis of their credentialsand credit hour course loads, as follows:

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree plus any one of the following certifications, CCS, CCS-P, CPC, RHIT, RHIA
Preferred Qualifications: - Master's degree
- Teaching experience at the university level
- Membership to AAPC or AHIMA
- A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and studentsuccess, as well as working with broadly diverse communities
